Love Needs Patience And Hard Work – You Can’t Give It Up When Things Get Tough

Love should have a sweet, sugary flavor instead of a bitter, rotten taste. It should make our lives beautiful. It should help us experience things we’ve never felt before. Reach heights we never knew even existed. Make us fall into a divine sensation of ecstasy.

It should bring out the best of us, help us grow. It should motivate us to open up and start seeing the world through our heart’s lenses. However, love also requires effort. It needs a lot of sacrifices. Good relationships don’t simply happen overnight.

When we love someone, we fight with all of our being to protect what we have. We put up with things that we do not find enjoying. We accept compromises for the sake of our relationship. We embrace changes because it’s the only way to go forward.

We don’t just leave whenever we experience a bit of drama. We can’t pretend to love someone, and then run for the hills whenever you have a little fight. It doesn’t work like that. We are either there, through thick and thin, courageously walking through the hailstorm while holding hands, or we don’t get attached at all.

I am sorry but, love will never be just pink skies, warm cuddles, careless mornings and cozy nights. There’ll be pain, there’ll be sorrow, tears, anger, drama, fights. And if we truly love the person beside us, we’ll do anything to get through the tough times.

Because when we truly love somebody, we don’t give up at the first sign of inconvenience. We don’t throw everything away over a stupid disagreement. We don’t let our relationship fall apart over one silly argument.

When we truly love someone, we sit down and talk until everything is settled. We fight, we scream, we cry, but we never give up. We give them an opportunity to explain themselves. We share our opinions. We suggest a compromise. We think of everything you two could do to improve your relationship. We discuss until the sun comes up, until the night falls again. But, whatever happens, we don’t give up without a fight. Not if we really care about them.

Because when we love somebody, and I mean really love them from the very depths of our heart, we stick with them. We don’t show up just when it feels convenient for us. We don’t hold their hand when they are fine and then abandon them when they’re at their most miserable. We don’t disappear when they need us and reappear when we need them.

When we really love someone, we don’t let them go through life alone. Whether it is pain or happiness they experience, we are always there to hold their hand and to let them know that it will all be well. We don’t let them suffer through it alone. We are in it together.

Because when we truly love someone, we believe that whatever it is that we’re experiencing, as long as we keep together and hold each other’s hand, we can survive it.
