Artist Creates Incredibly Realistic, ‘Melting’ Paintings In His Series ‘Hot Exhibition’
Imagine visiting an art gallery during one of the hottest days of the year, but the air conditioning isn’t working, and all of the paintings begin to melt and drip paint from their frames. This apparently surreal, frightening scenario is the concept for Vienna-based multidisciplinary artist Alper Dostal‘s Hot Exhibition digital art series.
The series of incredibly realistic, 3D visualizations includes famous paintings—such as Edvard Munch’s The Scream and Van Gogh’s Starry Night—which have turned into melting paintings. Each masterpiece depicts a curator’s worst nightmare; disastrous drips of thick paint trickles from the most well-known paintings in the world onto the gallery floor. The artist describes his work as “a little bit weird, humorous and with a drip of sarcasm, but often with a story behind.”
